Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD) is a charity based on the Central Coast of New South Wales. MMAD utilizes music, media & mentoring as tools to engage, educate and empower severely disadvantaged young people, particularly those who may be chronically homeless, traumatized or disengaged from society.
MMAD facilitates 970 programs for young people in need every year. These programs are designed to address the emotional, social & physical needs of young people within a safe & supportive environment. Through the support of MMAD, young people can achieve holistic & long term change.
With MMAD's support, young people begin to live to their potential for greatness, overcoming adversity and becoming inspirational young leaders who are passionate and determined to make their own positive difference in our community.
Their spokesperson Annette Sherwood explained the needs for laptops as follows :
"Musicians Making a Difference
has an UNEMPLOYED YOUTH PROGRAM, in GOSFORD that provides
Education, experience & empowerment. Following extensive consultation with
young people & our community, the issue of youth unemployment has been
highlighted as principal and ongoing, and in the opinion of some, has become
somewhat entrenched into our local culture. MMAD s Unemployed Youth Program, allows MMAD to closely work with groups of
young unemployed people through a series of inspiring projects. Facilitated by
passionate and experienced counsellors and trainers with the support of our
entire team of youth workers, the projects are motivating, educational and
engaging. Designed to uncover unique potential, develop strengths and to
strengthen weaknesses, the Unemployed Youth Program will helps to create a new
culture of leadership, caring and activity within our community. Hands on
experience in several fields including administration, community development,
event management and youth leadership provide important and practical tools
that benefit young people in their journey of self discovery and
vocation-finding.
For the program to be carried out to its maximum impact where participants will
gain the most from the training, MMAD is seeking support in acquiring
educational resources. We are currently seeking support for basic resources
such as several laptop computers
We are grateful for any assistance that you may be able to provide in helping us to deliver our program to the best of our ability and thank you again for the possibility of interest in supporting this program."
